How to Download and Open Your eBook
Welcome! This guide will walk you through how to download and open your eBook, step by step. If at any point you feel stuck, don’t worry — we’re here to help and can even walk you through it over the phone.
Ascension sells ebook versions of some of our titles. There are some important details you should be aware of when buying an ebook.
What is an ebook?
An Ebook is an electronic version of a book, containing the same information included in the paper version of the book. It can be read on electronic devices, such as ebook readers (like Kindle or Nook devices), or by using special apps on tablets, phones, or laptop computers. Unlike other electronic documents, such as Word docs or PDFs, these are designed for on-screen only use and can not be printed. These books also require certain software to be read, though the software is usually free, and often already loaded on most electronic devices.
Step 1: Find the Download Button
You should receive your email with a download link within a few minutes of placing your order. If you haven't, you can use the following instructions to find and download your ebook.
Sign in to your account at ascensionpress.com.
Go to your Order History:
- On a computer, move your mouse over the Shop menu at the top of the page, then click Order History.
- On a phone or tablet, tap the ☰ menu icon (top left corner), then choose Order History.
- Find the order with your eBook, and click Track Order.
- On the order page, click the Download Now button.
You’re ready to open your eBook! Below are instructions based on the device or app you want to use.
If You’re Using an iPhone or iPad
To Open in the Apple Books App (Safari browser)
- After you tap Download Now, a pop-up will ask if you'd like to download the file — tap Download.
A small blue arrow will appear in the top-left corner of your screen — tap that.
Tap Downloads from the menu.
You should see your eBook file listed (usually with a little book icon). Tap it.
It should open in your Books app automatically. If not:
- Tap the Share icon (a square with an upward arrow).
- Look for the Books app and tap it. If you don’t see it right away, scroll sideways or tap More.

To Open in the Nook App
- Follow steps 1–4 above to find your downloaded file.
- Tap the Share icon.
- Tap Nook. (If it's not listed, tap More, then scroll down to find it.)
- Your eBook will open in your Nook library.
To Send to Kindle Using Google Drive and Gmail
- Download your eBook following the same steps.
- Tap the blue arrow → Downloads → magnifying glass → tap your eBook.
Tap the Share icon, then choose Google Drive, and tap Upload.
Open your Google Drive app and find your uploaded book.
Tap the three dots next to the file → Send a copy → Gmail.
In the email:
- Send To: your Kindle email address.
- Leave the Subject blank or write “eBook.”
- Your book is already attached — just tap Send.
If You’re Using a Mac Computer
Using Safari
- After clicking Download Now, look at the top right of your screen for a down arrow ⬇️. That’s where your download is.
- Click the arrow, then click the eBook file once it appears.
- The file will open automatically in your default reading app (usually Books).
- If it doesn’t, right-click (or press and hold) the file → Open With → Books.
Using Chrome
- The downloaded file will appear at the bottom of your screen.
- Click on the file, and it will open — usually in the Books app or whatever your Mac uses to read PDFs/eBooks.
If You’re Using a PC or Laptop Running Windows
We would really suggest either downloading Calibre to your laptop to read the ebook, or (if you do plan to use Adobe Reader) you may have to convert the .epub file we sent into a PDF so that a PDF reader can open it. So long as you have an ereader on your laptop, you should be able to tell the file to open with Calibre.
If you are using Adobe and need it in PDF form, we highly recommend googling a site that converts .epub files into PDFs. The site PDF 2 Go is an easy one to use, and will allow you to create a PDF file out of the ebook file we sent you.
If You’re Using a Windows PC with Nook
- After clicking Download Now, the file should appear at the top right in most browsers.
- Click Open File — your eBook should open in Nook for PC.
- If not, open your Downloads folder, right-click the file, and choose Open with → Nook.
If You’re Using an Android Phone or Tablet
To Open in Nook (via computer)
- First, install Android File Transfer on your Mac (from android.com/filetransfer).
- Connect your Android device to your computer using a charging cable.
- On your phone, change the USB setting to File Transfer (it may pop up automatically).
- Download your eBook from your order page.
- Open Android File Transfer on your Mac and drag the downloaded eBook into your Nook folder.
- Safely disconnect your phone and open the Nook app to find your eBook.
To Send to Kindle Using Google Drive and Gmail
After downloading the book (tap Download Now, then wait for it to finish), tap the three dots ⋮ at the top right → Downloads.
Find the file, tap the three dots ⋮ next to it → Share → Google Drive, then tap Save.
Open your Google Drive app, find your file, tap ⋮ → Send a copy → Gmail.
In the email:
- Send To: your Kindle email address.
- Tap Send — your book will be delivered to your Kindle.
If You’re Using a Kindle
Recommended: Use Amazon Send-to-Kindle
- Go to Amazon’s Send-to-Kindle.
- Upload the eBook file from your computer or device.
- That’s it! It will appear in your Kindle library shortly.
Or Email It to Your Kindle
- Sign into your Amazon account and go to Manage Your Content and Devices.
- Click Preferences, then scroll down to Personal Document Settings.
- Find your Kindle’s email address (example: yourname@kindle.com).
- Make sure your personal email is approved to send to Kindle (you can add it here).
- Email the eBook file to your Kindle address — no message needed.
- Your Kindle should receive the book within a few minutes.
Tips & Troubleshooting
- If your file doesn’t open right away, restart the app or restart your device.
- Kindle delivery may take a few minutes — that’s totally normal.
