The Ascension App Explained

What is it?

The Ascension App is a free-to-download Catholic Bible and Catechism app, containing the full texts of the Great Adventure Bible and Catechism of the Catholic Church, Ascension Edition, the audio of Bible in a Year and Catechism in a Year podcasts, as well as daily readings and reflections. These features are free to all, so long as you've downloaded the app and signed in.

Signing In

Once you download the app, you'll be asked to set up a user-name (your email) and a password, and then be given a tutorial of the app's features, which can also be found in your profile if you'd like to review it again later.

The app itself is free to download, but you can purchase or cancel the premium subscription in the app itself for access to special features such as audio studies, Bible Answers and podcast companions (things normally purchased as print materials from our website).

This is DIFFERENT and separate from your account for ordering (ascensionpress.com) or from your study dashboard (ascensionpress.thinkific.com)

The reason we ask you to create an account is because the app saves your notes, highlights and progress in the podcasts. In order to properly associate those things with a user, we need a unique identifier (the sign in) for everyone.

If you sign in on a different device, or have to reinstall the app, signing in with the same email and password will pull up your existing progress and subscription (if subscribed). This also applies to those who move from Apple to Google Play to download the app.

Where to get the app?

If you're using an Apple device, you can download the app through the App Store here.

If you use an android and need to download it through Google Play, you can download the app here

Storage

You can visit the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store to confirm whether the app works on your devices. The app takes about 93 MB of storage on both operating systems, but that is subject to change with any updates that come along in the future.

The app can be installed on whatever your phone’s default storage is—that is, if they have an SD card that you've installed apps on before, this should work on that card. If you have never been able to download apps on your SD card, I would not think our app would be any different.

Can I use it on a tablet?

Available for iPhones, iPads, and tablets. not for Kindle.

Can I use it on my PC?

No (not at this time, though popularity in requests may have the team considering this)

My device is incompatible!

It isn’t so much the device as it is the operating system the device uses. For Android users, the minimum requirement for supporting the app is version 9, and for Apple users, the minimum requirement is iOS 13.

Reporting problems within the app

Users can go to their profile (top right) and scroll down to the bottom left of the page. There is a feedback feature in smaller print that allows users to share feedback and report problems from within the app itself.
