Which Catechism is used for The Catechism in a Year?

For our daily podcast readings, we will be using the Catechism of the Catholic Church, promulgated by then-Pope John Paul II in 1992.


The “blue” edition is the most current version available and is suitable for reading along with the podcast. This edition includes Pope Francis’ update to CCC# 2267 and is the exact same text that will be used in the Catechism of the Catholic Church - Ascension Edition - also available in paperback and ebook.


You may also be familiar with local catechisms, such as The Baltimore Catechism, United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the YOUCAT (the Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church). While these have helped the faithful as an introduction, the text of these catechisms are different and would not suitable for following along with the podcast.
